General
Information
The pageant is an official preliminary of the Miss
Arkansas Pageant held in Hot Springs, and all rules of the Miss Arkansas
system related to contestant eligibility are in effect for this local
pageant.
The Miss Ouachita River
Scholarship Pageant is open to contestants who live or go to school in
the following counties: Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Clark, Cleveland,
Columbia, Dallas, Drew, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Montgomery,
Ouachita, Polk and Union Counties.
The Miss South
Arkansas Scholarship Pageant
is an “open” pageant meaning
a qualified contestant from any section of the state is invited to
participate. The winners
will receive educational funds and the opportunity to represent the
pageant organization at the Miss Arkansas Pageant in Hot Springs,
Arkansas. The 2010 Miss Ouachita River & Miss South Arkansas winner
will receive among other awards, a cash scholarship. Cash scholarships
will also be awarded to the 1st – 4th runner-up
(depending of the number of contestants), Private Interview Award,
Talent Award, and Swimsuit Award.
The Miss Ouachita River & Miss South Arkansas Scholarship Pageant
is held in conjunction with the Miss Ouachita River & Miss South
Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant. Contestants will participate in five mandatory
phases of competition—Private Interview, Evening Wear, Talent, Swimsuit
and On-Stage Question. The weight score values for the competition are:
Talent 35% - Private Interview 25% - Evening Wear 20% - Swimsuit 15% -

The photo may be in black & white or color.
The photo will be used in the program book, newspaper and the

Photo, in order to be included in the pageant
program book, should be emailed to Thomas by January 4, 2010, unless

DEADLINE
January 4, 2010***
Contestants must provide with
their forms, a certified copy of their current college or high school
transcript and a copy of their birth certificate, and any other
supporting material as outlined in the attached contestant’s
information. Sponsorship for the pageant is $100.00 and the CMN
REQUIRED DONATION INFORMATION is posted on the Miss Arkansas or our
websites. If you have any questions in reference to the CMN Donation
please do not hesitate to call.

Contestants are responsible for their own lodging,
meals, and transportation while in El Dorado for the pageant. Comfort
Suites of El Dorado will be pageant headquarters during the weekend. The
Comfort Suites will be offering a special rate of $89.00/night plus tax.
If possible, please consider Comfort Suites for your stay in El Dorado;
you may call Comfort Suites at 870-863-4300 for reservations
(mention that you are with the
pageant.)

REHEARSAL
There will be only one rehearsal for the pageant
and that will be on Friday evening January 8, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. –
11:00 p.m.
Rehearsal for Miss Ouachita River & Miss South Arkansas contestants will
begin around 8:30 p.m. The
Miss Ouachita River & Miss South Arkansas Outstanding Teen contestant’s
rehearsal will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Rehearsal times may vary depending on the number of contestants.
Rehearsal for each division should last about 2 hours. A committee in advance has formulated a question
from your critical issue statement for the on-stage question.
Miss Talent should not exceed 1:30 minutes.
Talent for the state competition will be 90 seconds.
Talents are not protected.
The opening production number will be in a cocktail
dress of your choice; closing will be in eveningwear.
There are no production numbers requiring contestants to learn
choreography.
INTERVIEW
The interviews will be held Saturday, January 9th.
Interviews will begin at 8:00 a.m.
Judge’s Interview will begin immediately following introduction;
you will be allowed 30-seconds to close the interview. A schedule of events and interview time and location will be
given to each contestant at rehearsal.
PAGEANT INFORMATION
There is no reserve seating at the pageant.
Tickets are $10.00 and program $3.00 each.
Doors will open 45 minutes before curtain time.

question and Swimsuit
Competition tickets are $5.00 each. Teen
On-stage Question and Teen Talent – Miss On-stage Question and Swimsuit: Teen on-stage question, teen talent and Miss
on-stage question and swimsuit will be held Saturday afternoon from 3:00
to 4:30 p.m. The on-stage question will come from your critical issue.
We are pleased to introduce the PEOPLE’S CHOICE
AWARD ($1.00 Tickets).
Contestant Boxes will be set-up in the front lobby during the weekend
competition for your collected votes. Please encourage all family and
friends to show their support. The pageant organization will provide
contestant boxes. You’ve Got the Look Photography will be taking pictures for a
“Memory Book” of the weekend competition. Salute Pages: Contestants are invited to submit salute pages for
inclusion in the program book. Submissions must be half or full pages. One-half page is $75.00 and full pages will be $100.00.
Salute pages are due by January 4, 2010.

The Miss Ouachita River and Miss South
Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageants is in conjunction with the Miss
Ouachita River & Miss South Arkansas Scholarship Pageants, an official
Miss Arkansas/Miss America’s Outstanding Teen preliminary event.
The teen winner will represent the organization at the Miss
Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant to be in the Hot Springs.
The Miss Ouachita River Outstanding Teen Pageant is open to young women
in Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Clark, Cleveland, Columbia, Dallas, Drew,
Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Montgomery, Ouachita, Polk and Union
Counties.
The Miss South
Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant is an “open” pageant meaning a
qualified contestant from any section of the state is invited to
participate. To compete you
must –
Ø
Be a young lady
between the ages of 13 and 17.
Ø
The contestant must
be at least thirteen (13) years of age on the first day of the State
competition.
Ø
Contestant may be no
older than seventeen (17) years of age as of August 31, 2009 in the year
that she would compete at the MAOT National Finals.
Ø
Be a United States citizen.
Ø
Meet residency requirements for
competing in a certain town or state.
Ø
Meet character criteria as set
forth by the Miss America's
Ø
Be in reasonably good health to
meet the job requirements.
Ø
Be able to meet the time
commitment and responsibilities as set forth
Ø
Must not be eligible
to compete on the Miss level in the Miss America Program at any point
during the current Pageant Year.
Contestants will participate in six mandatory phases of competition—a six-minute Private Interview, Evening Wear, Casual Wear, Talent, and Lifestyle & Fitness in Active Wear and On-Stage Question. The weighted score values for the competition are:
Talent 35% - Private Interview 35% - Evening Wear 15%
Lifestyle and Fitness in Active Wear 10% - On-Stage Question 5%
Sponsorship fee of $100.00 must be delivered or mailed, along with the application forms. Sponsor checks should be made payable to the Miss Ouachita River or Miss South Arkansas Scholarship Organization. The 2010 Miss Ouachita River & 2010 Miss South Arkansas Outstanding Teen winner will receive a $250.00 cash award among other prizes; first through fourth runner-up will also receive an award.
