General Information
Contestants are
responsible for their own lodging, meals, and transportation
while in El Dorado for the pageant. Country Inn & Suites of El
Dorado will be pageant headquarters during the weekend. The
Country Inn & Suites will be offering a special rate.

possible, please consider Country Inn & Suites in El Dorado; you

(mention that you are with the pageant.)

REHEARSAL
There will be only one
rehearsal for the pageant and that will be on Friday evening
January 20, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Rehearsal for Miss Ouachita River & Miss South
Arkansas contestants will begin around 8:00 p.m.
The Miss Ouachita River & Miss
South Arkansas Outstanding Teen contestant’s rehearsal will
begin at 6:00 p.m.
Rehearsal times may vary depending
on the number of contestants. Rehearsal for each division should
last about 2 hours.
A committee in advance has formulated a
question from your platform/critical issue statement for the
on-stage question.
Miss Talent should not
exceed 1:30 minutes.
Talent for the state competition
will be 90 seconds.
Talents are not protected.
Venue will be sponsoring a BLACK Cocktail Dress for the opening
Parade of Contestants.
Please bring your own jewelry and shoes for the cocktail dress.
Closing will be in eveningwear.
There are no production numbers
requiring contestants to learn choreography.
INTERVIEW
The interviews will be held Saturday, January 21st
at the El Dorado High School Auditorium. Interviews will begin
at 8:00 a.m.
Judge’s Interview will begin
immediately following introduction.
A schedule of events and interview
time and location will be given to each contestant at rehearsal.

Swimsuit will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The
on-stage question will come from your critical issue.
We are pleased to
introduce the PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD ($1.00 Tickets).
Contestant Sacks will be set-up in
the front lobby during the weekend competition for your
collected votes. Please encourage all family and friends to show
their support. The pageant organization will provide contestant
sacks.
You’ve Got the Look Photography
will be taking pictures for a “Memory Book” of the weekend
competition.
Salute Pages:
Contestants are invited
to submit salute pages for inclusion in the program book.
Submissions must be half or full
pages.
One-half page is $75.00 and full
pages will be $100.00.

The Miss Ouachita River and Miss
South Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageants are in conjunction with
the Miss Ouachita River & Miss South Arkansas Scholarship
Pageants, an official Miss Arkansas/Miss America’s Outstanding
Teen preliminary event.
The teen winner will represent the organization at the
Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant to be in the Hot Springs.
The Miss Ouachita River Outstanding Teen Pageant is open to young women
in Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Clark, Cleveland, Columbia, Dallas,
Drew, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Montgomery, Ouachita, Polk and
Union Counties.
The
Miss South Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant is an “open”
pageant meaning a qualified contestant from any section of the
state is invited to participate.
To compete you must –
Ø
Be a young
lady between the ages of 13 and 17.
Ø
The
contestant must be at least thirteen (13) years of age on the
first day of the *State competition.
*June 27, 2012
Ø
Contestant
may be no older than seventeen (17) years of age as of August
31, 2012 in the year that she would compete at the MAOT National
Finals.
Ø
Be
a United States citizen.
Ø
Meet
residency requirements for competing in a certain town or state.
Ø
Meet
character criteria as set forth by the Miss America's
Outstanding Teen Organization
Ø
Be
in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.
Ø
Be
able to meet the time commitment and responsibilities as set
forth
by the local program in
which you compete.
Ø
Must not be
eligible to compete on the Miss level in the Miss America
Program at any point during the current Pageant Year.
Contestants
will participate in five mandatory phases of competition—a
six-minute Private Interview, Evening Wear/On-stage Question,
Talent, and Lifestyle & Fitness in Active Wear.
The weighted score values for the
competition are:
Talent 35% - Private Interview 35% - Evening Wear/On-stage Question 20%
Lifestyle and Fitness in Active Wear 10% -
Sponsorship fee of
$100.00 must be delivered or mailed, along with the application
forms. Sponsor
checks should be made payable to the Miss Ouachita River or Miss
South
Arkansas
Scholarship Organization.
The 2012 Miss Ouachita
River & 2012 Miss South Arkansas Outstanding Teen winner will
receive a $250.00 cash award among other prizes; first through
fourth runner-up will also receive an award.

TO
ENTER THE PAGEANT, YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:
1. Read the Official Rules and Regulation and
Entry Contract to make sure you qualify. We only need through
p.17. You do not have to fill out the Attachments. Or you may
read the contract, be sure that you qualify and sign the
CONTRACT FORM
attesting that you will sign the contract should you win the
pageant. We prefer that you submit the
CONTRACT FORM and not
the entire contract. You must attach residency verification
which would be a copy of your parent’s driver’s license. Also,
complete the Indemnity Release Form, sign, date, and notarize.
2. Complete an Official
Resume and Platform Issue. Be sure to be specific in filling out
these forms as this is what the judges will be referring to
during your interview. These must be typed on the computer, not
handwritten. SPECIAL
NOTE: IN YOUR RESUME UNDER THE FOLLOWING 3 ENTRIES- MARKETING
PLAN, LEGACY, WHY I SHOULD BE AMERICA’S OUTSTANDING TEEN – YOU
ARE TO WRITE ABOUT MISS Ouachita River or South Arkansas OT.
Keep these simple and limit to 1 or 2 sentences. Use your space
on that page for Accomplishments, Interesting Facts – you should
include clubs you belong to, church organizations, travels,
hobbies, sports. ALSO
ELIMINATE THE LINE AFTER NAME THAT SAYS TITLE.
3. Secure a business concern to
sponsor you in the pageant. They will get advertising for the
sponsorship; you need to get a check from them for $100 payable
to the Ouachita River or South Arkansas Scholarship Pageant.
4.

one professional quality, head and shoulder photo. The photo may
be in black & white or color.
The photo
will be used in the program book and the Miss Ouachita River &
Miss South Arkansas Websites (www.missouachitariver.org)

included in the pageant program book, it should be emailed to
Thomas by January 15, 2012 unless otherwise allowed by him.

*FITNESS/ACTIVE WEAR
- Teens will compete in Aerobic style outfits, stretch shorts
and any style of top.
*TALENT - TIME IS NO MORE THAN 2 MINUTES!
You
should use a CD for accompaniment. Have only one song on the CD
you turn in and be sure and make a practice copy so you don’t
wear out your performance one. Have your name on CD. BE SURE AND
HAVE A BACK-UP CD WITH YOU!

*EVENING WEAR-
Gown of your choice.
*INTERVIEW
–No business type suits; you should wear something trendy and
stylish that is teen appropriate (dress, skirt and top, pant
suit, jeans, etc.) Interviews will be 6 minutes with no opening
and no formal closing. You may be asked at the end if you would
like to add anything and will be given 30 seconds to do so.
*SCORING:
Interview-35%, Talent – 35%, Evening Gown with On-Stage Question
- 20%, and Physical Fitness/Active Wear -10%. Pageants are
required to use a Final Ballot. Auditors will give Judges the
Top 5 in random order and the Judges place them in the order
they feel reflects their overall performance. This will
determine the final ranking.
